Post-release:[]

In Piano Tiles 2 official youtube channel, before the official release date of August 19,2015, as of August 2023, there were 7 public videos showcasing a probably beta/unreleased version of Piano Tiles 2.

Three of the first video was posted on the same date, same location on August 3, 2015, 16 days before the official release.

Changes:[]

Piano TItles 2 is based a lot on Piano Tiles 1 (Don't Tap the White Tile), however, it has a much more modern design.

Instead of having only white background, black tiles, the game features much more notes such as long tiles, combo tiles, and an animated background: blue when PT2 Star stars, even more blue in PT2 Star PT2 Star stars, pink in PT2 Star PT2 Star PT2 Star stars, and PT2 Crown+ till you lose.

The navigation is also easier to use, instead of having too many gamemodes, Piano Tiles 2 only "features" a few of them, including the "classic game mode" and the "time mode" for the Classical Challenge in later version. The ability to customize your tile board (5x5, 6x6) is completely removed from the game.

The currency still remains the music notes, which can be collected in endless tiles, music gifts, leveling up, completing a song,... but features 2 more, including lives, diamonds. Lives will be lost when you lose a song, and 1 will be rewarded every 30 minutes or by leveling up, collecting music gifts... Diamonds are much rarer and only be given by music gifts.

Gameplay:[]

The first time you play Piano Tiles 2, there will be a short intro video played, saying the Piano Tiles 1 has served over 300M users (the first version of PT2).

  • In the latest 2017 intro video, it claimed to have 242 composers with 726 songs, being top 1 in 158 countries and served 900M users(not sure including Pt1)
  • The picture that you see when opening the app also claimed to be top 1 in Play Store in 2015

After the welocme theme, it asked you to try Little Star. Because there is no way to quit the intro without have to play it, this song has gone into every single Piano Tiles 2 Users.

The gameplay is simple, you just need to play unlocked songs for currency and level, unlock on higher or spend currencies for paid songs, or participating in challenges. For the tiles, there are:

  • normal tiles, which you have to tap once, appearance: black
  • long tiles, which you have to tap the beginning and hold (however you can release your hand after you managed to tap the beginning, therefore take a quick rest but will not get full scores), appearance: black at the beginning, blue at the rest
  • double tiles: which are 2 normal titles in a line, always either in 1-3 or 2-4 section (never 1-4 or 3-4/1-2), this is considered to be the hardest kind of tile, appearance: black
  • combo tiles: which is a very big normal title, contains a number in it. upon tapping once, the speed of the song will reduce to very, very slow (but still does move) and increase the lower the number is. you just have to press lots of times until the number is 0 (please note that if you are in a very fast song, the speed when this tile comes is 1 will barely even reach the current speed, so be prepared for a jump)
  • slider tiles: having the same mechanic as long title, instead you have to slide across your screen. appearance: yellow at the beginning, pink the rest
  • accompaniment tiles, which are basically in a screen. there will be long+normal tiles, which basically requires 2 hands to play. appearance: the long tile is the same, but the normal tiles is blue and have a white symbol in it.

If you either missed or pressed nothing, you will lose, but can be either revived by the "rescue tokens, doubles each loss"

In the latest version, there can be 3 boosts used for each song.

In a song, there will be 6 stars & crowns level, after each star, the song's speed will be exceptionally faster.

  • upon reaching 3 stars for the first time, you will have a bonus that each tiles is a "yellow music notes titles", your mission is to tap as much as possible, and pressing nothing or miss does not count as a loss, speed depends on songs. after that, this will not appear
  • upon reaching endless titles, there will be some of the "music note titles" randomly appear, you can choose to get or not, but this is highly not recommended for fast songs. Music gifts also appears here.
  • The crowns count is a little different, PT2 Crown is equal to where you get 1 stars, but PT2 Crown PT2 Crown is from that to the end of the song (2 stars), PT2 Crown PT2 Crown PT2 Crown is the whole 3rd loop. During the checkpoint where you should have star, the song still increase speed. (instead of increasing speed 3 times in endless titles, it is doubled to 6,)

List of songs:[]

There were 71 songs & challenges in the first version of Piano TItles 2, but in the latest update, it has bumped up to 726 (However, in the song folder, there are 848 JSON files, meaning about 50 songs are unused, removed, or being kept a secret).
